- Lesson 3 -
ACTIVITY 1 YHT
-
Step 1: Download YHT Model
-
Step 2: Split the model in Cura with Mesh Tools, pull it apart
-
Step 3:Experimenting with different support structures and timings by adjusting the orientation of each letter to see which letter (YHT) prints faster and which ones do not require support.
ACTIVITY 2 BRIDGING
01 RHINO

01 Draw out the bridge and extrude. Export it to STL.file
02 CURA(BRIM)

02 Import in to cura software and add in
Different types of adhesion

Raft

Skirt
Different types of support

Tree Support

Normal support structure
Different types of infill

Grid infill

Traingle Infill

Lightning Infill
03 3D PRINTING

03 25mm bridge 3D printing without support

04 Taking it out from the machine

05 Removing adhesion(brim)

Photo with brim
06 Comparing different bridge

Observation: The longer the bridge, the stringier the bottom becomes due to the lack of supports.
ACTIVITY 2 CUSTOM SUPPORT (IRON MAN)
Three types Support
Normal, Tree, and Custom support
-
The quickest option is the Normal setting with supports touching the build plate.
-
Custom supports and Normal supports with touching build plate have a difference of 5 minutes.
-
I prefer using Normal supports with touching build plate placement because it only requires one line of support, making it easier to remove compared to Custom supports, which have three lines of support.
